I’ve been expressing myself through music and song my whole life. Recently, I have written several songs to channel my rage and passion regarding the madness churning in my country. I have plenty of music to share in the coming weeks as I continue to participate in the resistance. Whether marching, standing vigil, or contributing through music and lyric, I will keep pushing for compassion and justice to overcome this collective nightmare from which we can’t seem to wake up.
Today, however, I’m posting a song from the playlist included in my book, “Crushing Lemons - A Memoir of Healing and Spiritual Transformation”. This is a song of peace I wrote after suffering a personal trauma in 2016 and finding myself homeless for several months in 2017.
I hope my music provides some peace and calm over the coming weeks as we prepare ourselves for more marches, more vigils, and more people coming online to support justice and compassion. As we stand against the power, greed, and control that is causing terror on American soil, trust that there is more power in compassion than there is in evil. But sometimes, compassion needs strong women and men to push it forward with angry and powerful voices, and I’m sure there are many of us bracing ourselves for the coming storms.

My name is Ann Liddick. I have a bachelor’s degree in nursing and a background in in public health, holistic healing, teaching, and counseling. My lifetime pursuits include music and writing. I bring all of these parts of myself together in creative service.
The Chrysalis, as a sanctuary for healing, offers insight and wisdom through word and music. This channel is meant to provide a sense of community for those who feel lost or alone during our collective evolution. Most of what I offer on this channel is simply the wisdom and experience I gleaned from surfing monster waves of change in my own life. Everything I share here conveys this hard-earned wisdom. There are many who walk these same lonely paths and we need a place to find each other….I hope you find support and commiseration here at The Chrysalis.

A note about my music:
I have been writing music and playing my guitar since I was a little girl. As time slowly but surely cripples and deforms my hands, and the ravages of age degrade the quality of my voice, I have been given the most precious gift in the form of technology to help me use my own music and lyrics as an integral part of my creative projects. Technology has offered me a prosthetic voice and the music that I can no longer play myself.
There are many downsides to technology and Artificial Intelligence, and I understand what they are, but I also understand that everything in life has a shadow and we must not get lost to the shadow and throw the baby out with the bathwater.
The dawn of Artificial Intelligence has given us an incredible challenge to maintain our authenticity and our integrity, and yet it has also given those of us who have never had the opportunity to fully fulfill or share our musical and lyrical talents, a chance to do so. The ability to participate on the public musical playing field was weighted heavily in favor of those with the resources and opportunities to pursue such a dream.
Using AI to replace what I’ve lost, and make it even better, is helping me make sweet lemonade out the lemons of my physical disabilities. And those who have positive intentions, and can hold tight to their own integrity and authenticity, should also be part of tipping the scales of the shadows of technology back towards the light.
