They performed a real duet of this song together in the 70s -- you can find it on YouTube. In that version, Cash sang the melody, John Denver sang the harmonies. It sounded great, but gave a more mournful feel than the original. So for this version, I switched it around: Johnny Cash ("AI" version) sings the low harmonies, John Denver is left as-is.
