The album Red Headed Stranger was released in May of 1975, it surprised nearly everyone when "Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain," already 30 years old, emerged as a number one country record and hit number 21 on the Billboard Hot 100. On February 28th, 1976, the single that Columbia didn't want to release brought Nelson a Grammy award. Ultimately Red Headed Stranger sold 2.5 million copies, and Willie turned it into a movie, co-starring Moran Fairchild and Katharine Ross in 1987.
