Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan were more than music legends—they were devoted friends who championed each other for over 40 years. Cash listened to Dylan's albums before his own shows and wrote him a fan letter. When Dylan went electric in 1965 and fans turned on him, Cash publicly defended his friend, writing "Shut up! And let him sing!" Dylan kept that magazine for the rest of his life, saying it "meant the world to me." When Cash died in 2003, Dylan called him "the North Star" you could guide your ship by. This is the story of two icons who lifted each other up.
