My rendition of this song that was originally recorded and released by Waylon Jennings. Jennings recorded it in January 1979 at American Studios in Nashville. The recording was produced by Richie Albright, the drummer in the Waylors, Jennings' backing band. It was released as a single in August 1979 on the RCA label, with the B-side "Mes'kin". The single entered the US Billboard Hot Country Songs top 40 on September 22, 1979 and charted for 12 weeks, peaking at number 1 for 2 weeks, from November 17 to December 1. It was Jennings' 54th top 40 hit and his 8th number 1 as a solo artist. It also reached number 1 on the Canadian RPM Country Tracks chart. It was the first single and track 8 on Jennings' October 1979 RCA Victor album, What Goes Around Comes Around. On the Year-end charts for 1980, the single ranked number 27 on US Billboard Hot Country Songs. Written by Chuck Howard.
