It’s Saturday afternoon, and I’m heading into the restaurant for my penultimate shift before jetting off to Spain on Monday morning. But as I drive, my mind isn't on the Mediterranean—it's back in the 80s.

Growing up in near poverty, "travel" was a word used for other people. It wasn't a reality for us. In this video, I reflect on the strange, lingering feeling of imposter syndrome that follows you when you've climbed out of a background where the horizon felt very small.

In this video, I talk about:

* The Saturday Shift: The reality of the hospitality grind right before a big adventure.

* The £10 Passport to Jersey: Recalling my first-ever flight at 17 for a training camp, equipped with nothing but a cheap, plastic suitcase my mother bought from Redditch market.

* Class & Travel: Why, at 55 years old and having traveled the world, boarding a plane still feels like I’m "sneaking into" a life I wasn’t supposed to have.

* The Monday Morning Feeling: Preparing for Spain and why I never take a single trip for granted.

Whether you're a frequent flyer or someone who remembers their first "cheap suitcase" moment, I hope this story resonates with you.

Does travel ever feel "borrowed" to you? Let’s talk in the comments.
