The highwayman's Hitch is a quick release draw loop knot used to secure a rope to a post or tree, that will need to be released easily and cleanly. The Hitch is untied with a tug of the release chord. There is no need to unwrap the rope around the pole anymore.

Also called the Jesse James Knot, as it was used by Jesse James the outlaw for a quick escape. He tied his horse to a pole using this knot, and quickly escaped after the deed.
