Welcome back to the most brutal challenge run in Oblivion Remastered! In this episode of our “Puppet Master” livestream series, I, Rabonah, take on one of the hardest early-game hurdles in TES IV on Master Difficulty. With no weapons, no destruction magic, and no fancy armor, can we survive the horrors of Cyrodiil using only illusion, conjuration, and our wits? Spoiler: barely.

In this edited livestream highlight, we pick up our journey just outside Vilverin, armed with nothing but prisoner rags, a few soul tomatoes, and our trusty conjured skeleton. Our destination? Bruma, where we aim to earn our next Mages Guild Recommendation, and pick up some crucial Glow Dust for Azura’s shrine quest.

But this is no easy walk through the Jerall Mountains. Every wolf, bandit, and highwayman is a legitimate threat when your damage comes from summoned creatures and manipulation spells alone. With no Destruction magic, no weapons, and combat limited to Conjuration, Illusion, Alteration, and Mysticism, this is truly Oblivion’s hardest way to play.

Once in Bruma, the guild quest offers both opportunity and challenge. We dive into puzzle-solving, spell-juggling, and some classic illusion cheese to get through it alive. Afterward, we head east to Azura’s Shrine, prepared to face our most grueling challenge yet: killing vampires without direct combat.

That cave… is hell.

These vampires hit like trucks, shrug off summons, and swarm like rabid bats. This part of the challenge nearly ends the entire run. But after multiple failures, tactical resets, and some big-brain spell usage, we finally complete Azura’s quest and obtain Azura’s Star—a reusable soul gem that changes the entire build potential of our Puppet Master class going forward.

With Azura’s blessing and a soul gem to call our own, we end the video by discussing the future of this challenge run: completing the remaining Mages Guild recommendations, preparing for the Arcane University, and eventually using our manipulative build to turn Oblivion’s toughest encounters into a puppet show of chaos, fear, and domination.

If you’re into challenge runs, Elder Scrolls lore, or want to see how far you can push the non-combat playstyle in Oblivion Remastered, make sure to subscribe, like, and comment on what spell schools YOU would prioritize in this build!
