today, kris kristofferson celebrates birthday 82.

i've always felt that he was an underrated composer and performer of songs.
he gave us 'me and bobby mc gee', 'for the good times', 'help me make it through the night' and so many more.

for many, he will best be remembered for his starring role in 'a star is born'.......the 1976
version, for which he received a 'golden globe' for 'best actor'.

he is quoted as saying that the words he wants inscribed on his tombstone are the first three lines from the leonard cohen classic, 'bird on a wire':

like a bird on a wire
like a drunk in a midnight choir
i have tried in my way to be free
