Sometimes, the most beautiful moments happen when you least expect them.

Earlier this afternoon, I was just heading into the grocery store when I heard familiar chords drifting from a busker sitting cross-legged by the entrance. As I got closer, I realized he was playing "Highwayman" by The Highwaymen – that iconic '80s supergroup featuring Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Waylon Jennings, and Johnny Cash.

Immediately, a wave of nostalgia washed over me. This song was my stepfather Gary's absolute favorite back in the mid-80s, and we played it constantly on cassette tape. It brought back so many cherished memories.
After grabbing what I needed, I found the busker playing another tune. I knew I had to go back.

I stowed my groceries, grabbed my phone, and returned. After making a donation, I asked him if he'd consider playing "Highwayman" again. I noticed he didn't quite know all the lyrics, so I offered to sing lead since it was such a meaningful song to me, and he could back me up.

He loved the idea! So, right there amidst the bustling grocery store entrance, with shopping carts rattling by, we played. It was truly a special moment, and I wanted to make him feel as wonderful as he made me feel. I asked if I could film our impromptu performance and invited him to visit our YouTube channel.

It was an amazing, heartfelt contribution, and we're so grateful for what he shared with us all.
