Leon Russell penned "A Song for You" in 1970, and it became one of the most recorded songs in American music history. Ray Charles, Donny Hathaway, Willie Nelson, and Whitney Houston all put their stamp on it — but this early session version is about as close to the source as it gets.

Leon Russell was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2011.
