This week I am in Edlesborough which is in Buckinghamshire. The church is from around the 13th century however it sits on top of an old barrow ( burial ground).
The name Edlesborugh means "Eadwulf's barrow" in old English.

The place was also home to an old pub the bell ( supposed to be haunted by a young girl) and was also home to the infamous Dick Turpin ( the 17th/18th century highwayman ) he was one of the most famous in all of England. Born September the 21st in 1705. After his death/execution, his life became romanticized and he became a myth. With tales , poems and songs being written abut his exploits.
It is said he also used the pub and the church. On some nights it's said you can see him on his horse riding up to the church and walking into the churchyard, only to disappear into the darkness.
