Isolation Video #16 Make You Feel My Love by Bob Dylan recorded by Stephen Mendel on April 1, 2020.
This was one of the songs I played in my last live gig before Covid, which was Valentine's Day Feb. 14, 2020 at the Fireside Cafe in Newbury Park, California. It was written by Dylan for his 1997 album Time Out of Mind but it was commercially released first by Billy Joel one month before Dylan's album came out as, To Make You Feel My Love on an album of Joel's called Greatest Hits III. The song was released as the a single to promote the album and made it to #50 on the Billboard Hot 100. Garth Brooks recorded it in 1998 and scored a #1 Country hit, a Grammy nomination for best Country Male Vocalist and a Grammy nomination for Dylan for best Country song. Adele covered the song in 2008 and although it wasn't a huge hit for her upon first release, the song kept appearing on various talent shows and her version kept reappearing and rising on the charts eventually peaking at #4.
When the rain is blowing in your face
And the whole world is on your case
I could offer you a warm embrace
To make you feel my love
When the evening shadows and the stars appear
And there is no one there to dry your tears
I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love
I know you haven't made your mind up yet
But I would never do you wrong
I've known it from the moment that we met
No doubt in my mind where you belong
I'd go hungry, I'd go black and blue
I'd go crawling down the avenue
No, there's nothing that I wouldn't do
To make you feel my love
The storms are raging on the rolling sea
And on the highway of regret
Though winds of change are throwing wild and free
You ain't seen nothing like me yet
I could make you happy, make your dreams come true
Nothing that I wouldn't do
Go to the ends of the Earth for you
To make you feel my love
To make you feel my love
