First recorded by Ray Stevens in 1969 (which became his first country hit song) Kristofferson recorded Sunday Morning Coming Down on his 1970 debut, Kristofferson. This is a very plaintive song that captures the morning after impact of a hangover, something the songwriter knew a lot about. I recorded it under similar conditions having slept poorly caught in the grips of one of my most terrible additions - the question of buying another guitar! That explains the Christopher Llyod hairdo and facial stubble. Hope my suffering isn't too apparent. More cowboy songs are on the way!
