In this video, I visit Waylon Jennings's gravesite in the City of Mesa cemetery. Waylon Jennings was the original country music outlaw. He had many number-one hits including his biggest, self penning "Just Good Ole Boys". Waylon Jennings was heavily influenced by Buddy Holly. Waylon was traveling and playing bass in Buddy Holly's band during the Winter Dance Party of 1959. Buddy's plane crashed on February 3rd, 1959. Contrary to the popular belief, Wayon did not flip a coin with JP Richardson, The Big Bopper for the final plane seat. Waylon was discovered by Bobby Bare as he was traveling through Phoenix. Chet Atkins signed Waylon Jennings to a recording contract. Waylon is a member of the country music hall of fame. He died in his home in Chandler Arizona with complications of type 2 diabetes. Waylon Jennings was married to Jessie Colter. He continues to be a major influence in the country music field.
