“I Ain’t Living Long Like This” is a country song written by Rodney Crowell. It was first recorded by Gary Stewart in 1977, and later appeared on Crowell’s 1978 album. Emmylou Harris also recorded a version that same year.

Waylon Jennings recorded his version in 1979 for his album What Goes Around Comes Around. Released in December 1979 on RCA Records, Jennings’ recording became one of his signature outlaw country hits.

The single reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart, becoming Jennings’ eleventh No. 1 country hit, and also topped the Canadian country chart published by RPM. The song remains closely associated with Jennings’ rebellious outlaw image and stands as one of the defining recordings of his late-1970s career.
