The song tells us that this is an apology. His partner is about ready to leave. He's saying he's sorry for all of his mistakes. Things he should have done and things he didn't do. All he knows is that he loves and doesn't want her to go. He says if she stays he promises to be better. Willie got a unique voice but it is somewhat soothing. He's one of the most prolific singer/songwriters ever. I like all of his songs.
