This piece is my interpretation of The Highwayman at Fright Corner, one of Kent’s most haunted locations, and a story that’s haunted English folklore for centuries.
The drawing evokes the atmosphere of death, regret, and retribution that defines the old tale.
The Highwayman is a recurring figure in British ghost lore… proud, tragic, and forever bound to the road where he met his end. My aim was to create something that feels like a fragment of a dream or a memory, half-seen through fog and time.
You can find this artwork featured in the ongoing series for @LanternAndShroud Podcast where we explore haunted places, folklore, and paranormal history through illustration and storytelling.
